Halloween is just days away! I was looking at the front of our house and thinking “trick-or-treaters are going either pass our house or be incredibly unexcited while walking up our driveway 😂” This year it just was not in our budget to get some fun Halloween decorations for trick-or-treaters. I made this very simple, very cheap AND cute BOO door hanger (or hanging porch decoration)! Today I’m just going to share a quick step by step to make your own before those cuties start knocking on your boring, plain old door on the 31st!
What do you need?
I bought ALL the supplies I needed at our local craft store (Michaels or Hobby Lobby are my go-to’s).
- Wooden letters- B- O- O
- Candy Corn or Halloween Theme Ribbon
- Black acrylic paint
- Clear glitter paint or glitter in a bottle
- Foam brush
- Hot Glue gun
Step 1-
Paint the letters black. Once the paint dries apply a second coat
Step 2-
Sprinkle glitter over wet paint OR allow paint to dry then apply a coat of glitter paint
Step 3-
Once paint is dry- cut 2, ~3 inch strips of ribbon, wrap around the base of the ‘B’ and the top of one ‘O.’ You can tie OR hot clue the ends together. Repeat with the second ‘O’
Step 4-
Cut a long piece of ribbon for the bow and hanger- each side of my ribbon was about 3 feet long.
Step 5-
Tie a loop at the center of the ribbon on the top of the ‘B.’ You’ll use this to hang it on the door.
Step 6-
Tie a large bow at the top, I double knotted mine to make sure it stays!
Step 7-
Hang outside your door, and get ready for those trick-or-treaters!!!
