Happy February Scratch Fam! Thanks so much to everyone who participated on my Instagram quiz last week! I asked what Valentine treat you all wanted to see next, and “fun snack for my kiddo” was the winner! Harper and I had a lot of fun making this recipe together, although she really just enjoyed sneaking bites while I made it 😂
There are so many different snack mixes out there, but I knew I didn’t want nuts, and I didn’t want it too salty, but also not as sweet as a puppy chow type snack mix. Harper and I took a little trip to target and browsed through the aisles, picking some different ingredients we thought would be perfect for the snack mix.
Let’s start with the cereals- I’m not a huge fan of plain chex mix (is anyone really), unless I’m adding ton of salt or sugar to it…which we aren’t, so I decided to try the Vanilla Chex- it will add just enough sweetness and not too much extra sugar. Next was the popcorn- we went with sweet and salty- I guess we should include SOME salt somewhere right? So of course we didn’t forget the pretzels either.
So those are our main ingredients- a cereal, a popcorn, and a pretzel. These are really customizable to your taste, but I think these will all work really well together!
Next was the fun part- the seasonal section of Target. I spent way too much time here, but we found pink melting chocolate to drizzle on top, Valentine M&M’s (I chose this candy cause it-s Harper’s favorite- feel free to switch candies!) and Valentine Sprinkles. I didn’t want to go TOO over the top with candy since it IS supposed to be a snack…not a sugary dessert 😂
So let’s get on to the recipe! Here’s what we discovered to be a perfect balance of each flavor.
From my kitchen to yours… Enjoy!
