Hello December!! It’s officially full-on Christmas mode in the Maynard household. Lights are up, our tree is decorated, stockings are hung and pretty flickering lights are all around. We already had our first Christmas party this past week and are hosting our annual Christmas party with our friends next week. Needless to say, it’s crucial to have a good Christmas cookie recipe on hand at all times throughout the month of December- so this week’s Pairing of the Week is a Christmas Classic!
Santa’s Favorite Sugar Cookies and Eggnog
I’ve made this cookie recipe since I was a little girl!! My little brothers, sister and I would love helping my mom cut out and decorate these sugar cookies for us to enjoy and of course- for Santa! My mom passed this recipe down to me- so of course for Harper we re-named it “Grandma’s Sugar Cookies” ☺️. They are the SOFTEST sugar cookies I have ever had. I really don’t like crunchy or over baked cookies- and these are absolutely perfect. Not only that but they are so easy and fun to make with your little ones! It’s one of my favorite Christmas traditions that I’m so excited to continue with Harper this year.
Because it’s December 1st-it’s also time to break out the Eggnog! I know for most people you really hate it or you love it- Jordan and I really enjoy it during the holiday season and it does pair wonderfully with a yummy Christmas sugar cookie. We like to sprinkle a little bit of nutmeg on top- it add’s a little extra bit of deliciousness! We don’t make our own… we just get the standard Eggnog from the grocery store 🙂 Do you have a favorite type of Eggnog? Drop a comment below!
From my kitchen to yours…enjoy!
Santa will love these sugar cookies! These soft, cakey sugar cookies make a lot of cookies, but will disappear quickly!
