Happy Monday! I know I typically post these on Friday’s but since Valentine’s Day falls on a Thursday…I wanted to share this before then! Jordan is really not a gift person at all, really the key to his heart is food 😂. So for Valentines Day each year I make him something special that I know he will love (way cheaper that way anyways than buying something he won’t care about!) This weeks pairing of the week is…
Box Of Chocolate Cupcakes with Black Pinot Noir
When I was in high school, I was convinced I would open a cupcake bakery when I was older (who knows maybe I still will 😉). So I collected all sorts of baking and cupcake recipe books. My favorite was always “Hello, Cupcake.” They have the CUTEST ideas for cupcakes, including this box of chocolates! I added a couple of my own twists of course…and obviously had to pair it with one of my favorite wines.
My absolute favorite wine pairing is with a cupcake, you just can’t go wrong! This week’s wine pairing is a Mark West Black Pinot Noir. It’s much deeper, darker and smoother than your typical Pinot Noir and has hints of black cherries, vanilla, mocha and caramel. A PERFECT pair for a box of chocolate cupcakes!
This is a super cute twist on your average “Valentine’s Box of Chocolates” that your significant other will LOVE. Not only is there LOTS of chocolate…but it means so much more when you actually make it! They know you were thinking of them and you didn’t just run into the grocery store and grab a random box of chocolates at the last minute cause you forgot it was Valentines Day. It really is also VERY SIMPLE and does not take long! Give it a shot, your spouse will appreciate the effort, especially because they’ll taste amazing 😍
From my kitchen to yours… Enjoy!
A thoughtful twist on the average “box of chocolates” Valentines gift!

- 1 Jar Vanilla Frosting
- Pink or Red Food Coloring
- Valentine M&M’s
- Valentine Conversation Hearts
- Variety of Valentine Sprinkles

- Allow cupcakes to cool completely then frost with chocolate frosting.
- In a small bowl, mix half the jar of vanilla frosting with pink food coloring. Scoop in a small Ziploc bag and move all the frosting to one corner. Cut a tiny bit of the corner off to make a small opening for piping.
- In another small ziploc bag, add white vanilla frosting and cut a small portion of the corner for piping.
- Place cupcakes in heart shaped pan to see how many cupcakes you’ll need to decorate.
- GET CREATIVE!!! Use your conversation hearts, sprinkles, and piping bags to design your “box of cupcakes”
- Once all cupcakes are decorated and arranged in your heart shaped pan, carefully sprinkle heart shaped M&M’s around the cupcakes to fill in empty space
- Cover with saran wrap, tie a pretty bow on top and present to your significant other with a bottle of Mark West Black Pinot Noir to share!
